I have found that commuting by rail, specifically the Septa R5 line, is easy and inexpensive.   I can walk to my local train station, though parking is available for $1.00 per weekday, it’s free on weekends.

The fares are discounted during the weekends and holidays.   It takes me about 15 to 20 minutes from the platform to NextFab and is directly up Market Street about 7 blocks.   It is cheaper than gas and parking around University City and I can listen to my MP3 player, read or do crossword puzzles on the train.   I used to commute to to a warehouse just north of center city and this is much more relaxing.

Information about train fares, routes and schedules can be found online.
