RIP Steve Jobs

The 2 Steves

We all lost one of the most influential figures of the last 35 years.   He truly changed the world.   One could say he, with the Woz, were the original technology makers.   From his parents’ garage to the most valuable company in the world is pretty incredible.

The 2 Steves (Woz on the left, Jobs on the right) certainly influenced many we know (and maybe ourselves?) to become makers.

RIP Steve Jobs.

I have been reading this and I have really enjoyed learning more about Steve Wozniak.   It’s available in paperback or hardback and as an eBook.   For anyone interested in the early days of personal computing, it’s a must read.

There is a movie called The Pirates of Silicon Valley.   It is a great film about the early days of Apple and MicroSoft.   It is available on DVD.   You can read more about it on Wikipedia here.

I read this this morning and I was sent it as well.   This is a little scary.   For a company that was on the verge of going out of business in the 1990’s, Apple has made a great comeback.

Read about it here.

Remember, Apple was started by Steve Jobs and the Woz (Steve Wozniak) in the garage of Steve Jobs’ parent’s house.   They were Makers before the term was coined.

Apple Computer was released Lion or Mac OS X 10.7 to the public.   I’ve been looking forward to this.   This will be especially important to MacBook and MacBook Pro users  with the glass covered track pad and users of the Magic Trac Pad.   iOS gestures are available for OS X.

Catch a cat by the tail.

On a related front, I have been reading Mac|Life since it was MacADDICT and I find their hints and tips very useful.   If you’re a Mac user too, you can check them out at their website or on Facebook.   Right now they’re talking about Lion on their front page.
