Makers Monday, So Good to Me

Makers Monday, it was all I hoped it would be....

Cyber Monday will never bring to mind the Mamas and the Papas, but that's just another reason to abandon mass-produced products made in questionable working conditions in favor of American-made. When this Monday, Dec. 2 rolls around, rethink where you're doing your online shopping and take part in Makers Monday: more than 250 retailers, both brick-and-mortar and online, have signed on as part of a movement to encourage shoppers to buy products made in America. Pennsylvania retailers are well-represented, ranging from textiles and messenger bags to woodcut prints and Jeep body armor. But nationwide, you can find almost anything: hand-crafted wood video game consoles, baby clothes, and luggage, for starters.

And don't forget that Saturday is Small Business Saturday, another chance to support local economies.
