A colorful clash of art, technology, and community involvement?  FIGMENT is speaking our language!

An escape from the boxed walls of routine adulthood, FIGMENT brings to life the purity of imagination to where it’s tangible in your very hand. Like a child’s wild and wonderful dream, FIGMENT is an unforgettable splash of irreverance, magic, and fun. What started in 2007 on Govenors Island in New York Harbor with 2,600 participants has grown into a worldwide explosion of creativity with thousands of artists, neighbors, volunteers, and kids sharing their art and ideas at an interactive outdoor gallery.

FIGMENT’s goal is to help community members advance social and personal transformation through participation at events and exhibitions. To achieve an unmediated experience, FIGMENT never supports commercial sponsorships, advertising, or buying and selling of goods or services. The artists, planners, and staff are unpaid volunteers, and FIGMENT relies on donations to create the one-of-a-kind participatory events for the entire family – and admission is always and entirely free.

On October 6, 2013, FIGMENT is making its premiere in Philadelphia! Clark Park, in the heart of West Philly, is making a one-day transformation into large-scale collaborative artwork. Art-lovers can expect hands-on installations in every medium, and are even encouraged to bring their own art and activities! Rain or shine, come by and explore the over 40 projects by dozens of artists that will be placed throughout the park. NextFab member, Bevin Weissman, the Lead Producer of the event, tells us that attendees are in for a day of air guitar battles, a pitbull kissing booth, a playable lattice of chimes, and so much more! Featured FIGMENT Phila artists and projects include The Wobble Family Art Collective’s “Cargo Drop” from Burning Man 2013, Miribai Galashan’s “The Love Seat,” Frank’s Kitchens Artist Collective’s “Mutant Bikes,” The Department of Making and Doing's “Make & Do Station,” Group Motion Dance improvisational performances, and Cotton Candy Circus Arts’ workshops in aerial silks and trapeze.

Bring the kids and join us at FIGMENT Phila!
